Deniz Kocak is a Research Associate at the project “Exporting the State Monopoly on Violence: Security Governance Transfers to Areas of Limited Statehood”. He studied at the Humboldt-University Berlin, the University of Potsdam and Chulalongkorn University Bangkok and holds a MA in Political Science and Modern/Contemporary History. His research interests include Civil-Military Relations in non OECD-countries with a focus on Southeast Asia, state formation, security cooperation and integration processes in Southeast Asia as well as French and British colonial history.
Within the project he is working on international security sector reform (SSR) in Timor-Leste.
