The SFB 700 at the ISA Annual Convention 2013: A Reflection

With a poster exhibit, participation in panels, and an information stand, the SFB 700 “Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood” presented its work at the 2013 Annual Convention of the International Studies Association (ISA) in San Francisco, USA.

A major highlight of the SFB’s trip was a reception hosted in cooperation with the Berlin-based Humanities Center for Advanced Studies (KFG) “The Transformative Power of Europe.” The event brought together a crowded room of about three hundred guests, among them the current president of the ISA, Harvey Starr, and three former ISA presidents.

Following a brief welcome by SFB Spokesman Thomas Risse and KFG Director Tanja A. Börzel, guests enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the work of the SFB 700 through posters on each of the research projects, engaging in discussions with representatives from the Research Center over light refreshments.

The thirteen members of the SFB 700 who traveled to San Francisco presented and discussed the results of their research on various panels over the course of the four-day conference.

We would like to thank all conference participants who made their way to our reception, to any of the panels organized by members of the SFB 700, or to our information stand. We are already looking forward to next year!
