Getting Around in Berlin

Berlin has an excellent public transportation network that takes you conveniently across the city on busses, subways, lightrail or train (“S-Bahn”). You can receive your public transport tickets at vending machines at every airport, train station and subway station as well as from bus drivers.

When purchasing tickets, select fare zone “AB” (unless you are arriving at Schönefeld Airport, in this case select “ABC”). Costs (as of April 2011) are

Regular one-way fare:	EUR 2,30
4-Trip-Ticket:	EUR 8,20
One-Day-Pass	EUR 6,30

In case you want to use a taxi, please note that the taxi fare from Tegel Airport to Berlin-Dahlem is at least EUR 30,- and from Schönefeld Airport at least EUR 50,- Taxi fares in Berlin are metered. Ask your driver to turn on the meter.

Getting to the Conference Venues

The following directions take you to subway station U Thielplatz, which is in immediate walking distance of our conference venues. To get off near the Seminaris Campus Hotel, get off at subway station U Dahlem-Dorf, one stop prior to U Thielplatz on subway line U3.

from Tegel Airport (duration: 30 minutes):
Take bus X9 (direction: S+U Zoologischer Garten) to U Jakob-Kaiser-Platz (4 min.). From here take subway U7 (direction U Rudow) to U Fehrbelliner Platz (11 min.). From there take the subway U3 (direction Krumme Lanke) to U Thielplatz (8 min.)

from Schönefeld Airport (duration: 50 minutes):
Take bus SXF1 (direction: S Südkreuz) to S Südkreuz (20 min.). From here transfer to circle line train S41 to S+U Heidelberger Platz (8 min.). From there change into subway U3 (direction Krumme Lanke) to U Thielplatz (6 min).

from Berlin Central Train Station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof – duration: 30 minutes):
Take either train S5 (direction: S Olympiastadion), S75 (S Spandau Bhf) or S7 (S Charlottenburg) to S+U Zoologischer Garten (6 min.). From here transfer to subway U9 (direction: S+U Rathaus Steglitz) to U Spichernstr. (3 min.). From here, take U3 (direction: U Krumme Lanke) to U Thielplatz (11 min.).

Directions to FU campus subway station “U Dahlem-Dorf”
From the North: A115 southward, AS 2 Hüttenweg direction city, turn left into Clayallee, then right into Königin-Luise-Str., then right into Takustraße / Lansstraße.

From the West: A2 / A10 / A115 direction Potsdam/Berlin / AS4 Zehlendorf / B1 Potsdamer Chaussee / turn left Clayallee / right Königin-Luise-Str. / right into Takustraße / Lansstraße.

From the South: via A103 / AS5 Schlossstraße to the B1, Unter den Eichen, turn right into Fabeckstraße then Lansstraße.

From the East: via A12 / A10 / A113 direction airport BBI (Schönefeld) / A100 / A103 / AS5 Wolfensteindamm, turn right into Schlossstraße direction Dahlem / left into Grunewaldstraße / Königin-Luise-Straße / Lansstraße.
